The first set of baby booties I ever made were for my friend's daughter, Devin Joan.
They were tiny and oh-so-cute. They also look a bit like ballet slippers. Pattern courtesy of Amobabe in Stitch 'n Bitch Nation.
Yes, those are daisy buttons on the sides!
Side view of said cuteness:
That said, when my friend announced twin boys, I got to work on the hats, baby sweaters and more booties. My husband was appalled. Suddenly, nothing was "manly" enough for the twin boys. Well, he liked the twinsy hats, but the sweaters distressed him, and well, let's not even talk about the 'ballet' slipper booties.
Accordingly, I made these, the "MACHO BOOTIES"
Here is my variation on the Child Placket Neck Pullover sweater from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts. It's Bernat Cotton Tots on size 9 needles. Overall, they came out totally misshapen, but still soft and cute.
My friend stroked them a lot at the shower, so I think she will keep them as sweater pets until the twins are born. I told her I would frame them and put the twins handprints underneath so we could use it as room art.
