I decided not to knit anything for the baby. This is weird since I love knitting for everyone else's babies. It's just that something interesting happened when I got pregnant--my best friend's mother started knitting again, and rumor has it that she is knitting up a storm for the baby.
I'm a bit of a haphazard knitter, and she is a seasoned veteran. I decided that her knitting was likely to be far more superior and that I should simply buy a nice cedar chest to store all no doubt heirloom quality items she is knitting for my soon to arrive baby son.
This neurosis seems to be born out because at my shower, my friend Maya commissioned the most adorable handknit baby items to be made for the baby. They are cotton, delicate and cuddly...and impressively more embellished than things I tend to knit. The cardi and hat are so incredibly cute that I'm scared to even put it on a drooling spitty baby. Still, they appear to be cotton so I may take my chances. Photos to come soon.
