I celebrated my birthday week in my usual wild and crazy way. With complete disregard for my work week, I had a lovely glass of chianti riserva, I had some cake, and I took a knitting lesson. Wow, all that excitement nearly wiped me out. No, seriously, I was exhausted from the extra festivities.
But, you want to know about the knitting lesson, right? I had taken a colorwork series that Full Thread Ahead was offering. Lu was the instructor and showed me Fair Isle last week, which I enjoyed a lot, especially that two handed business.
This week was intarsia and after many many missteps, I ended up with this:
This was knit up in WEBS valley yarns sugarloaf, which is Merino and microfiber. It's wonderfully soft and not too splitty when I paid attention. When I didn't pay attention, I managed to snag that stuff once or twice and had to be very gentle with it to coax it back to its twist. Overall, it's marvelously soft and just what I like when looking for yarn for baby sweaters. Not wool like at all so easy on baby's skin.
