I've learned that I cannot knit and watch basket ball at the same time. Way too intense for me to concentrate on my knitting. Never mind that I need my hands to throw up in the air and pump my fists, etc. Watched the Cal v. NC State game that hubby Tivo'ed for me. Stress.
However, I can watch basketball and work out on the elliptical. Yes! Got some gym time and watched the Uconn v. Kentucky game. Good stuff. However, very hard not to whoop and groan at the YMCA. Well, I could groan and pretend I was having a brutally tough workout.
I have been buying yarn. Seems the restraint I practiced at Stitches West has left me and I'm back to my normal self.
Though I have been buying yarn, I have not been photographing and reporting it here on the blog. Seems that I would rather tell everyone how much I weigh, how the post-partum weight loss is going. What does that say about me? Ok, 42 lbs down on the preg weight, only 28 to go. Yes, that was 70 lbs. Long story about the forced weight gain.
What did I buy? Over the last month:
1) my first order at KnitPicks for the Shine in worsted weight. Very nice stuff and I've already talked about my appreciation of Modal fiber. It's machine washable, good for the baby stuff.
2) my first order at Little Knits - good prices on Fixation Bulky, how good? Well, 50% off good. Also, two skeins of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sportweight. It's soooooo lovely. Photos to come.
3) eBay - 20 skeins of red Debbie Bliss merino chunky. It's discontinued and I really really liked that red shade. If I liked mustard or navy, I probably could have spent 25% less.
The red yarn was my celebration gift to myself for returning to work after maternity leave. Instead of going out to dinner to celebrate, I bought yarn. Going out to dinner requires such planning now...baby sitter?
Knitting progress you say? Well, Bob went swimmingly fast (wow, love ASC and size 8 needles!), but picking up stitches around the curved arm was a bitch and I didn't love picking up stitches for the armband either. Now weaving in seams.
Yes, yes...I'll get on the photos. Camera battery is charging.
Yarn over dinner? Of course, and it is calories free!

WHAAAAAAAAA! You said Kentucky versus UConn.
Signed,
A heartbroken but proud Kentucky fan (who did not knit during that game. She did cry, and she yelled. A lot. The refs were terrible)

Dinner out? We always bring the kids, as it saves on babysitting! I totally support your yarn buying habit (especially red yarn!) and look at it this way -- dinners come and go but you can look at and enjoy the yarn for months (maybe years) to come. Congratulations on the raise!
